A toddler died in Lewiston on Saturday after she was run over by a vehicle driven by her mother, according to police.
Taneisha Thomas, 27, of Lewiston was backing out of a parking space at Pleasant View Acres apartments around 5 p.m. when she struck her 17-month-old daughter, Tiannah Sevey, Lt. David St. Pierre of the Lewiston Police Department said early Sunday afternoon.
Despite efforts to save the child, she was pronounced dead at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
No charges had been filed as of Sunday afternoon, St. Pierre said.
The Lewiston Police Department, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the district attorney’s office are investigating. The state medical examiner’s office also is involved, St. Pierre said.
