A snake went missing after slithering out of a crate that an Auburn worker opened on Thursday, according to the Maine Warden Service.

A employee at Panolam Surface Systems, formerly known as Pioneer Plastic, was opening a shipping crate that arrived from China on Thursday morning, wardens said.

When the crate was opened, a small, green snake with yellow eyes escaped.

Wardens were called in to look for the snake, but after searching the area, they were not able to find it.

Wardens say they do not know what kind of snake it is.

Workers were told to be on the lookout and to call officials if it is spotted again.
