The 18-year-old who died in a single-car crash in Biddeford late Thursday night was a champion fisherman, WGME, CBS 13, reported.

A 2001 Nissan driven by Thomas Behen, of Biddeford, went off Guinea Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday and crashed, police said. Behen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Biddeford High School Principal Jeremie Sirois told CBS 13 Behen graduated in June from the school, where he started its fishing team and won a state championship for bass fishing.

Sirois told the station Behen had started attending Southern Maine Community College.

Other friends who gathered at the site of the crash Friday told CBS 13 Behen was a fun person to be around and always had a smile on his face.

Police are still investigating the crash, the station reported.
