A Bristol man died Thursday night when his motorcycle crashed on Route 32 in Waldoboro.

Kevin Willey, 54, was headed south on Route 32, also known as Bremen Road, when he apparently failed to negotiate a corner, Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde said in a statement Friday.

Officers arrived to find the motorcycle and Willey approximately 20 feet from the road on an embankment. Willey died at the scene, according to police.

Police do not yet know if alcohol or speed were a factor in the crash, which is under investigation. The crash is being reconstructed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Friday that Willey’s death was the 24th motorcycle fatality in Maine this year.

No additional information was immediately available.
