YORK — A deputy was honored by the York County Sheriff’s office after rescuing a dog that had swallowed narcotics.

Earlier this year, Sargeant David Chauvette administered Narcan to Addie, a three year old yellow lab that accidentally ingested 25 Oxycontin pills after chewing open the owner’s prescription.

On Friday, after swearing in four new officers, the York County Sheriff’s office recognized Sargeant Chauvette.

Several other people were recognized for their bravery including five men who pulled a woman from a burning car in Limington, a couple who found a missing young person suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome and three people who found a young autistic boy who wandered away from his home.
