Two 9-year-old girls were found safe in Maine after they were taken from a convenience store in Massachusetts, according to a report from WGME.
Their mother and her boyfriend have been charged with kidnapping them, the station reports.
Twins Jet’aime and Dasia Valentine were found in Lewiston and returned to their father Thursday morning.
They were reported missing Wednesday afternoon from Plymouth, Massachusetts. Police there say they left their bus stop with adult supervision and went to a neighborhood convenience store.
That’s where their mother’s 38-year-old boyfriend forcibly took them. WGME reports the girls had not seen their mother in years, and their father has full custody.
Police used the store’s video security footage to help them identify the boyfriend as a suspect. Their search for the twins lead them to Lewiston, where local police assisted with the discovery and arrest of the mother and boyfriend.
