Police say a missing teen has been found.

Ayia Aribi, 15, had been missing since Feb. 6.

The Saco police posted a request on Facebook on Tuesday asking members of the public to contact police if they saw her or knew where she was.

Saco police announced on Facebook early Wednesday afternoon that Ayia had been found, but did not specify where she had been found or what she had being doing in the eight days she had been missing.

“Ayia Aribi has been located. The Saco Police Department would like to thank the public for it’s assistance,” police officials wrote in a statement on Facebook.

Police said that the girl was discovered missing by her mother when she returned home after being away for several hours on Feb. 6.

Her case was treated by officers as a runaway seeing as she had run away from home previously.

In Maine, 60 runaway teenagers are reported missing every month and 99 percent return home within 24 hours or let their parents know where they are.

In a typical year, 300 to 400 missing person and “attempt to locate” reports are filed with county sheriff  and municipal police departments across the state and all but a handful are resolved quickly, often in less than 24 hours.
