A Walpole woman was arrested Sunday after police say she shot and wounded her husband Friday night during a domestic dispute.

Angela Lemire, 39, was charged with domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault, according to a statement posted on the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The shooting happened 7 p.m. Friday at the couple’s home on Clarks Cove Road in Walpole, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim, Lemire’s husband, was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.

Lemire’s husband has since been released from the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

Lemire was arrested Sunday in Brunswick by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jared Mitkus, according to the statement.

She was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where she is being held without bail due to the nature of the crime, the sheriff’s office said.

Lemire was expected to make her first court appearance later this week.
