A Jay man died early Thursday morning in a car wreck in Turner that sent another driver to the hospital, authorities said.

William Rodgers, 54, was driving a tan 2014 Dodge Caravan south on Auburn Road around 1:05 a.m. when he collided with a northbound 2011 Jeep Liberty operated by Christian J. Parlin, 23, of Livermore, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy William Gagne said.

Rodgers died in the crash, which occurred near the Mason Road close to the Livermore town line, Gagne said. Parlin was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by ambulance.

Police are still investigating what caused the cars to collide. Maine State Police and Lewiston police assisted sheriff’s deputies in reconstructing the crash and forensically mapping the scene, Gagne said.

Auburn Road, or Route 4, was closed until about 5 a.m. as authorities investigated the crash scene.
