A Limington motorcyclist died Monday in Cumberland County when he rear-ended a turning car, then swerved into the path of an oncoming truck, police said.
Morris L. Watson, 42, was riding his motorcycle closely behind a 2016 Ford Focus that was traveling west on Route 113 when that car, operated by Javon S. Weathers, 21, of Baldwin, slowed to make a left turn along the Standish-Baldwin town line, according to Capt. Donald Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Watson struck the back corner of the slowing car, which caused his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle to careen and skid in front of a truck driving east in the opposite direction, Goulet said. That truck, a 2008 Ford F-350 service vehicle owned by Nestle Waters of North America, was operated by Joshua W. Bowe, 37, of Sebago.
Watson died in the crash, which remained under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. He was was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Goulet said.
