HERMON, Maine — Ben Jenkins of Brewer worked his way up through the field, passing Sean McNevin of Hudson on the 20th and final lap on Wednesday night to win the Roadrunner feature race at Speedway 95.

Jenkins, who started 23rd, negotiated the field throughout the race and was running third on Lap 18 when race leader Zachary Horlieca of Hudson lost a front wheel and wound up in the sand on Turn 4.

That left McNevin out front heading into the last lap, but Jenkins passed him on the inside on Turn 3 to take the lead and earn the checkered flag.

Doug Woodard of Plymouth finished third with Glenn Yachanin of Orland and points leader Alvin McNevin of Holden taking fourth and fifth, respectively.

The race was stopped four times for racing incidents, which helped Jenkins climb to the top three to be in position to take advantage of Horlieca’s misfortune. Jason Hyde of Glenburn and Woodard won the qualifiers earlier in the program.

Racing resumes Saturday at 8 p.m. with the Dysart’s Late Models running a 40-lap feature and the Casella Recycling Street Stocks racing in the fourth and final race of the Sunoco Race Fuels Series, a 50-lap event, as part of the regular racing program.
