A man died when the Skowhegan apartment where he was living caught fire early Friday morning, according to a report from the state fire marshal’s office.
Douglas Barrett, 48, was found in the kitchen of his two-story apartment on Milburn Street, according to a news release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Barrett’s body was taken to the Maine State Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted.
The fire is not considered suspicious, and no one else was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
