A Wiscasset Middle School student was hit by a car while crossing the street to board a school bus Wednesday morning.

Tennyson Lincoln, 14, of Somerville was struck by a car on Route 17 in Windsor just after 7 a.m. Oct. 24. Eileen Bayer, 51, of Union was operating the vehicle and traveling west, according to a release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

It was snowing in the area the school bus had stopped at the intersection of Griffin and Vigue roads with its lights flashing. “The teen lives a short distance away and was waiting for the bus at the intersection,” McCausland said.

Lincoln was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center where he was treated and released for bumps and bruises, McCausland said.

Bayer was charged with failing to stop for a school bus, according to McCausland.
