Sanford police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who they say robbed the Lil Mart convenience store on Main Street.

The robbery happened around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the man entered the store and asked the cashier for change.

When she opened the drawer, police say the man reached over and grabbed money from the till.

He then ran from the store and was last seen heading south behind Sanford Institute for Savings, according to police.

Police describe him as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

They say he was dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, with camouflage pants and gloves.

The suspect did not show a weapon and no one was injured.
