Two crashes, one involving a pedestrian, over the past 12 hours in Bangor sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
The names of those injured were not released
Bangor police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car on Maine Avenue near Hayes Street around 4:30 a.m. Friday, Sgt. Wade Betters said in a news release.
The man was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment, Betters said. Information on his current medical condition was not available Friday morning.
Maine Avenue between Corporate Drive and Texas Avenue reopened about 7:30 a.m. Friday after being closed for several hours, he said.
Officers also responded Thursday night to a serious, single-car crash on Burleigh Road. That crash closed sections of that road for several hours.
The car left the road at about 8 p.m., hit trees and caught fire.
Two passersby pulled the female driver to safety, Betters. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but an update on her medical condition was not available Friday morning.
The Bangor Fire Department responded to both crash scenes, Betters said.
More information was expected to be released later Friday.
