ATHENS — The Athens Victory Club annual Veterans Day turkey buffet is 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Somerset Academy, Academy Street. Includes 50/50 raffle. AUGUSTA — VA Maine Healthcare System invites the public to a Veterans Day celebration 8-9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the main hospital’s lobby and at flagpole at 1 VA Center, on the Togus campus. Randall Liberty, a veteran, former sheriff of Kennebec County and current warden of the Maine State Prison, will present a 7-foot-tall American Bald Eagle hand-carved by an incarcerated master craftsman, to be dedicated to the Honorable Veterans of the State of Maine. The craftsman spent four months and approximately 1,600 hours carving each individual feather, each talon and the beak. Warden Liberty has done a lot of work for Maine veterans, including establishing an American Legion Post in the Maine State Prison veteran pod, as well as transitioning to civilian life through advocacy, programming and the Veterans Court.
AUGUSTA — The Augusta Elks 964 are holding a Veterans Day breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at 397 Civic Center Drive. Veterans eat for free. $6 adults, $3 children 12 and under.
AUGUSTA — The Fitzgerald-Cummings Post 2 is holding a Veterans Day ceremony starting at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at 294 Capitol Street Ext. The opening ceremony at 12:45 pm. includes presentation of colors, opening prayer and POW/ MIA recognition. At 1 p.m., dinner will be served. BG Donald Marden will give remarks followed by Vietnam veterans recognition by Past Commander Howard Betts and comments by the Legion Commander and Auxiliary president. BANGOR — The Bangor Band will perform a patriotic concert for Veterans Day at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at 405 Perry Road. The band will play marches and old wartime melodies to honor and thank veterans for their service to the country.
BANGOR — The Bangor High School Junior Reserve Training Corps will host the Greater Bangor Area Veterans Day Parade at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Vehicles should line up in the parade by 9 a.m. This is for the safety of children and adults assembling in this limited area. Pedestrians walking should assemble by 9:45 a.m. Veterans marching will be at the front of the parade and will be coordinated through Cole Transportation, not Bangor JROTC. The parade will assemble on Vista Way in Brewer (Brewer Plaza), proceed down Wilson Street and cross the Chamberlain Bridge. From there, the parade follows Main Street to State Street and ends on Exchange Street. The route is approximately 1 1/2 miles. There is a brief pause when the parade reaches the reviewing stand for a respectful ceremony.
BANGOR — The Bangor Grange Hall is holding a veterans tribute supper and show Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1192 Ohio St. Turkey supper starts at 5:30 p.m. until sold out for $9. At 7:30 pm, Elvis tribute artist, Jessi Mallory, presents “G.I. Blues,” for $8. Bring a nonperishable food item for a local food pantry and receive $1 off. BANGOR — Husson University will hold its annual roll call at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the G. Peirce Webber Campus Center. There will be a minute of silence and a national roll call that honors those who have served, those who are serving and those who gave their lives in service to their country. BELFAST — The Veterans Day Parade in Belfast starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Belfast Area High School. The parade will turn right down Waldo Avenue, then left on Main Street and proceeds to the waterfront where a brief ceremony will be held.
BREWER — In honor of those who served, Brewer High School student council will be holding a coffee hour (7-8 a.m.), breakfast (8-9 a.m.), and then an assembly (9-10 a.m.) for veterans on Friday, Nov. 9, at 79 Parkway South.
CAMDEN — Camden Public Library will be closed Sunday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.
CARIBOU — Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Corp. will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road. Linda McGlinn will be the emcee, Sue Barnard of Northern Maine Community College will be the keynote speaker, the invocation and benediction will be by Lloyd Woods, Wendell Hudson will sing, and taps will be by Fred Ormezanni. Coffee and cocoa will be provided by C.B. and Vicki Smith. Legion Riders of American Legion Post 147 in Madawaska will do a 21-gun salute for the corporation’s ceremonies. ORONO — The unveiling of the Digital “Book of Memory” display will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the Coe Room of the Memorial Union, University of Maine campus. Before the unveiling, guest speakers will talk about the project and the importance of commemorating those lost during military service. The Book of Memory contains portraits and obituaries of UMaine’s 261 fallen dating back to The Spanish-American War.
ORONO — Euphony Orono’s Chamber Choir presents, “We are the Dead” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at The Church of Universal Fellowship, 82 Main St. Includes a poetry reading commemorating World War I. There is a $10 suggested donation and students attend for free.

SEARSPORT — First Congregational Church of Searsport announces a Veterans Day organ concert with Sean Fleming, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Sean Fleming returns to First Congregational Church in Searsport, to perform a Veterans Day Concert on the 1906 E.W. Lane tracker action pipe organ. The Veterans Day Concert will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Franck, Handel, Darke and Widor. A highlight of the concert will be Concert Variations on “The Star-Spangled Banner” by John Knowles Paine. Donations accepted at the door will benefit the church’s building project.
SOUTH PORTLAND — The South Portland War Veterans Association is hosting the annual Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12. The parade will leave Southern Maine Community College at the end of Broadway and conclude with a ceremony at the Veterans Monument in Mill Creek. Please note that Broadway will be temporarily closed to traffic during the parade.
