Game notes: This is a battle of conference champions as the Phoenix won their 20th consecutive Horizon League regular-season championship last season and is the preseason favorite. UMaine is the defending America East champion. Wisconsin Green Bay, which has posted 41 consecutive winning seasons, is coming off a 56-49 road win over No. 16 Missouri. UMaine will have to move the ball quickly to get open shots against a program that led the nation in scoring defense a year ago (47.4 ppg). UWGB was also 10th in rebound margin (plus 9.2). The Phoenix have a sizeable height advantage, but UMaine outrebounded a much taller Duke team in the 66-63 loss with its tenacity and hustle under the boards. UWGB has averaged 28 wins over the last four seasons. Millan is tied for 30th in the country in scoring.

UMaine played a tougher schedule to date against the likes of Denver, Utah, San Francisco and North Carolina State, and that should help the Black Bears. The Mean Green are shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and 42.2 percent from the 3-point arc. Zachary Simmons is shooting 75 percent from the floor, including 55.6 percent from the 3-point arc.
