Maine State Police and the Fort Kent Police Department are trying to find out what happened to a man who was found dead in a West Main Street apartment Sunday.

Fort Kent police received a 911 call from the apartment house at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday and upon arrival discovered Daren Charette, 49, deceased, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The discovery sparked an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death. Charette’s body was brought to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted.

There is no threat to the public, McCausland said. The investigation is expected to continue Monday.
