Maine State Police report that two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 3 in Liberty around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The crash took place about ¼ mile from another fatal crash that occurred Tuesday morning, according to a news release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
“Troopers said a car crossed the centerline and collided with a pickup truck,” McCausland said in the release.
The driver of the car and a passenger in the pickup truck were killed in the crash, he said. The driver of the truck was taken to the Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast.
Traffic on Route 3 has been detoured. The crash occurred near Lake St. George State Park, McCausland said.
Troopers are investigating the crash and are notifying relatives of the deceased individuals, he said.
