Edmundston police recently arrested a 62-year-old woman who they say was in possession of more than 26,000 contraband cigarettes for resale.
The woman was released after promising to return to provincial court in Edmundston on Feb. 26, 2019, to answer to charges related to the seizure, according to the Edmundston Police Force.
Police did not publicly identify the woman since she has not been formally charged. Her name and the charges should be made public following the court appearance.
Police estimated the value of seized cigarettes at more than $4,000 on the black market.
