A significant rain storm is expected to make its way to Maine on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The warmer temperatures in combination with the rain are expected to melt the recently fallen snow, which could cause localized flooding of urban and low-lying areas, as well as the potential for ice jams, according to flood watches issued by the National Weather Service in Caribou and in Gray.

Rain accumulations Friday into Saturday are expected to range between 1 to 3 inches, according to the report.
