‘Th e Sound of Muse-ics’ TEMPO performance with live artists
ELLSWORTH — TEMPO: The Eastern Maine Pops Orchestra will present “The Sound of Muse-ics” at 6 p.m Saturday, Feb. 9, at the General Bryant E. Moore Community & Conference Center, 133 State St. Featured artists will be Linda Rowell Kelley and Emily Bracale of Mount Desert Island, and Michael and Lee Nahme of the Nahme Fine Arts Gallery in Searsport. The audience members have the opportunity to bid on original artwork inspired by the music of TEMPO after the performance in a silent auction during a reception immediately following the performance. Proceeds from the artists’ paintings will establish a fund to help provide TEMPO students with a means to acquire and maintain quality musical instruments. TEMPO is under the direction of Rebecca and Ethan Edmondson. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, $20 for a family.
ART matters 4 February session with Galen Davis, Stephan Haley and Larry Moffett
DEER ISLE – The Deer Isle Artists Association will present the third ART matters 4 session, “Alternate Approaches,” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Deer Isle Artists Association Gallery, 15 Main St. Artists Galen Davis, Stephan Haley and Lawrence Moffett will will discuss how their unique work has typically represented the natural landscape. The artists will bring examples of their work and discuss it with each other, then the audience will join in. DIAA Board Member Hub White will serve as moderator. A reception follows with 44 North Coffee, tea and homemade cake.

Johan finds help along the way from a group of rapping trees, The Designers of the Pillow of Plaid, wrestler Macho Ultimate, and the star of the movie “Footloose.” An absurdist comedy extravaganza, “The Summoning of the Flamingo of Love” promises to surprise and entertain. Second annual Down East Family YMCA Ice Fishing Derby on Feb. 9-10
ELLSWORTH — The second annual Down East Family YMCA Ice Fishing Derby, hosted by Down East Family YMCA and Camp Discovery on Webb Pond, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9 and 10. All legal bodies of water are eligible.
