Third-seeded Greenville Consolidated School outscored No. 6 Pine Tree Academy 37-16 Monday morning in a Class D South girls’ basketball quarterfinal to advance in the state tournament.
Halle Pelletier scored 11 for Greenville, WMTW television reported.
The Lakers improve to 13-6 with the victory and moves on to a semifinal round game Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. back at the Augusta Civic Center. They will face the winner of today’s Temple Academy vs. Vinalhaven quarterfinal game. Greenville reached the semifinals last season, where it was eliminated by Vinalhaven.
Pine Tree Academy finishes its season with a record of 9-10. The Breakers haven’t advanced past the quarterfinals since 2014.
