The fifth-seeded Wells Warriors took a slim lead in the first quarter and held on the rest of the way to upset No. 4 Yarmouth 52-38 in a B South girls quarterfinal win at the Portland Expo on Tuesday.

The Warriors’ record improves to 13-6. The Clippers end their season at 12-7.

Next up for Wells is the semifinals, where they will face the winner of today’s game between No. 1 Gray-New Gloucester (16-2) and No. 9 Maranacook (10-9). The semifinal game will be held Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Portland Cross Insurance Arena.

Wells exited the tournament in the quarterfinals last year after falling to Freeport 46-42.
