A Lewiston man was arrested early Friday morning after police said he fled after striking a runner with his truck on Route 196 in Lisbon.

Aaron Crenshaw, 25, was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, according to Lisbon police Chief Marc Hagan.

The victim, a 36-year-old woman whose name was not released, was reportedly wearing an illuminated running vest and running against the flow of traffic on Route 196 just before 6 a.m. when a box truck driven by Crenshaw veered slightly toward her, prompting her to attempt to jump out of the way. The white 2013 Chevrolet box truck reportedly struck her in the right arm and shoulder, knocking her to the ground.

The woman was treated later on Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston for arm and shoulder injuries.

Lisbon police, fire and rescue personnel went to the scene, near the Getty Mart on Lisbon Street, where the woman reportedly said the truck failed to stop and continued toward Topsham, according to Hagan.

A Lisbon firefighter headed to the scene heard the vehicle description over his radio, spotted the truck and followed it while calling the police department. Topsham police stopped the truck and Lisbon officers arrested Crenshaw.

He was released on $200 bail and scheduled to appear in Lewiston District Court on April 10.
