Game notes: Due to a scheduling problem, this game have to be moved from UMaine’s home court at Bangor’s Cross Insurance Center, where the Black Bears are 9-1 overall and 8-0 vs. America East competition, to the Augusta Civic Center. UMaine has won eight in a row while the Seawolves are riding a four-game winning streak. UMaine maintains a one-game lead over Hartford in the race for the regular season title and the home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Stony Brook has been bolstered by the return of Matthews, who missed the earlier game against UMaine because of injury. This game features two of the league’s best guards in Millan and Johnson. Millan, a junior, leads the league in scoring and and steals per game while Johnson, a senior, is first in assists and 3-point field goals per game (3.3). Johnson is fourth in the country in assists per game. UMaine’s 11.5 turnovers per game is sixth-lowest in the nation. UMaine leads the league in scoring, averaging 67.3 points per game, while Stony Brook has the stingiest defense, allowing 56.3 ppg. UMaine head coach Amy Vachon is an Augusta native and former Cony High star.

Game notes: UMaine and Stony Brook both are coming off conference losses to UAlbany. UMaine fell to the Great Danes 63-54 at home last Sunday after defeating UAlbany on the road earlier this winter. Stony Brook, ranked third in America East behind Vermont (11-2) and Maryland Baltimore County (10-3), fell at home to rival UAlbany 74-70 Thursday despite a 22-point, 12-rebound triple-double by Yeboah. UMaine has dropped its last four games this winter and lost its last 15 meetings against Stony Brook, though it led the Seawolves by 16 points at halftime in Bangor last month. UMaine has gotten a boost recently from redshirt junior guard Dennis Ashley, who has come off the bench to average 13 points in the Black Bears’ last two games. UMaine, currently ranked eighth in America East but 2½ games ahead of last-place New Hampshire (1-12), has three regular-season games left after visiting Stony Brook. The Black Bears will host Massachusetts Lowell next Wednesday and Binghamton at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, before traveling to New Hampshire on Tuesday, March 5.
