A man from Sidney is in custody after showing police a gun and instigating a standoff.

State police say that standoff began at a home on Richard Road around 9 a.m. Friday morning.

They say they were at the home to serve Randy Wathen a warrant for a domestic incident late Thursday night.

The ensuing standoff lasted more than five hours before Wathen surrendered.

He was taken to Kennebec County Jail, and is now facing assault charges stemming from the domestic incident Thursday night.
