The Rangeley Lakers earned a Class D North boys quarterfinal victory on Monday, beating Vinalhaven 53-46 at the Augusta Civic Center.
Second-seeded Rangeley (16-3), which beat the Vikings twice during the regular season, advances to take on Greenville in a 10 a.m. semifinal game on Wednesday.
Vinalhaven finished the campaign with a 7-12 record.
Vinalhaven got off to a hot start behind Joe Hopkins but Rangeley battled back behind the 33-point performance of Kenny Thompson to score its third win of the season over the Vikings.
Hopkins, a senior swingman, scored nine of his team-high 20 points in the first quarter as Vinalhaven moved out to a 13-10 lead.
Thompson, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, answered with 14 points in the second quarter as Rangeley rallied to take a 30-23 halftime lead, then added 15 second-half points to help the Lakers keep Vinalhaven at bay.
Nolan Boone added 14 points for Rangeley.
Hunter Ames added eight points for Vinalhaven.
