A Gorham man was killed Sunday afternoon when his car struck a utility pole.
Rodney Johnson, 55, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord on River Road near Majestic Heights in Windham about 4:55 p.m. when his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole, according to the Windham Police Department.
Johnson died at the scene, Windham police said.
His passenger, 60-year-old Richard LaChance of Standish, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with life-threatening injuries, Windham police said.
The crash remains under investigation, but police said that speed appears to be a factor.
