Details of the incident were scarce. A dispatcher at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center declined to confirm the reports.
This is the second reported standoff in the past week in Penobscot County. On Tuesday, Maine State Police shot and killed Thomas A. Powell III, 31, of Old Town after a standoff on French Island in Old Town.
