A Brunswick man was arrested Thursday for allegedly crashing through a gate at the Brunswick Executive Airport and hitting a plane before fleeing the scene.

Robert Cooper, 22, is accused of the hit and run that occurred the night of Jan. 13, according to Brunswick Chief of Police Scott Stewart. Cooper was arrested on Thursday following a tip from someone who had seen news reports about the crash.

Cooper is charged with aggravated criminal mischief, criminal trespass, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and operating without a license.

He is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court on March 16.
