A woman was killed late Friday night in an apartment fire in Jay.
Joan Jackson, 67, was smoking while using oxygen inside her Lavoie Street apartment about 10 p.m. when the fire started, according to Katy England, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Jackson, who was confined to a wheelchair, died at the scene, England said Saturday.
An autopsy was conducted Saturday morning.
