BREWER, Maine – First National Bank recently announced a $2,000 donation to the Brewer High School Air Force Junior ROTC program toward the development of a new outdoor fitness trail.

Brewer High School is currently in the planning and development stages of the project. The goal is to provide a safe fitness trail for running, walking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. This will keep cadets active throughout the year as well as provide wellness opportunities for all students.

Established in 2007, Brewer High School’s AFJROTC program’s mission is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community. They currently have 65 cadets.

“We are extremely proud of the work our cadets put into the program, both in the classroom and out,” said Brewer High School’s Lt. Col. (Ret) Bill Hardie. “They dedicate personal time collecting donations for the Bangor-area Shaw House for homeless teens, volunteering at the Bangor Humane Society, and participating in a number of flag details for Brewer and its surrounding communities.”

“The Air Force Junior ROTC cadet’s hard work, dedication and volunteerism throughout the community is incredible,” said First National Bank’s President & CEO Tony McKim. “We’re grateful our contribution will help expand wellness opportunities for the cadets and all students at Brewer High School.”
