OLD TOWN, Maine – A day of ice fishing and recreation, as well as a special Mass, is set for Saturday, Feb. 12 in Old Town.
In what has become a beloved tradition for discerners across Maine, the vocations ice fishing gathering will begin with a 10 a.m. Mass at Holy Family Church in Old Town followed by a short journey to Pushaw Lake for ice fishing. The day will conclude with a pizza dinner at 5 p.m. The event will be hosted by Fr. Greg Dube, director of the Office of Vocations and Seminarians in the Diocese of Portland, and is for any man discerning the priesthood or religious life.
“You do not need to be a fisherman in order to participate,” said Fr. Dube. “People can simply bring their own chair and warm clothes, of course!”
If you do intend to fish, please bring your fishing license and gear. Limited supplies of traps and bait will be provided for those who need them.
If you have any questions or are interested in attending, please contact Jennifer Bernier in the Diocese of Portland’s Office of Ministerial Services at jennifer.bernier@portlanddiocese.org to receive a registration form.
