HINCKLEY — Kennebec Valley Community College is pleased to announce that the state of the art lecture hall building located on the College’s Harold Alfond Campus in Hinckley will be named Woodlee Hall in honor of former KVCC president and Maine Women’s Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Barbara Woodlee.
Dr. Woodlee served as KVCC’s president from 1984 to 2012, overseeing a multitude of significant projects crucial to both KVCC’s history and its future success during her 28-year tenure. These projects include the acquisition of 700 acres of land intended to form an additional campus for KVCC, gifted to the Maine Community College System by the Harold Alfond Foundation in 2012. This campus became the Harold Alfond Campus, on which the building set to bear Dr. Woodlee’s name lives.
A true advocate for students, education, and fostering a strong and educated workforce in Maine, Dr. Woodlee stands out in the College’s history as the institution’s first President (succeeding Director Bernard King). Dr. Woodlee’s credits are extensive, including induction into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame in 2015, a Distinguished Community Service award from the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce in 1997, a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Maine Farmington and an Achievement Citation Award from the American Association of University Women. In addition to these accolades, Dr. Woodlee has always embodied KVCC’s values — integrity, excellence in teaching, creation of opportunities for self-fulfillment and lifelong learning, and a culture of civility, cooperation, and collegiality.

We have flourished under her leadership!”
The future Woodlee Hall, a 15,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building constructed in 2015, houses classroom spaces, science labs, a unique food science lab, and a 60-seat lecture hall.
