The firm promoted attorney Jamie Szal to partner, strengthening the firm’s tax offerings

LEWISTON — Lewiston-based law firm Brann & Isaacson announced the promotion of attorney Jamie Szal to partner. The move strengthens the firm’s highly regarded tax practice.

Szal’s practice will continue to focus on assisting businesses in all aspects of state and local tax. She joined Brann & Isaacson in 2017, following several years at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. As Counsel in both the Litigation Bureau and Office of Appeals, Szal focused on complex tax issues facing corporations and pass-through entities. She earned her LL.M. in Taxation and Certificate in State and Local Taxation, both with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center. Szal graduated from the Northeastern University School of Law in 2009 and holds a bachelor of arts in international studies with the highest honors from Trinity College.

“Jamie has been a stellar member of our team since she joined the firm,” said Dan Nuzzi, a senior partner at the firm. “She brings expertise in tax law and a fresh perspective on the legal field. She is a valued voice in the courts and beyond.”

Szal is an active volunteer with the alumni network of her alma mater, Trinity College. She serves as vice president of the Board of Directors of Community Dental, a nonprofit dental organization focused on making superior quality dental services available to all Mainers, especially those in need.

Dedicated to sharing her experiences as a mother pursuing a full-time career, Szal recently joined the Board of Directors of MothersEsquire, an international non-profit empowering lawyers who are mothers, and co-authored the best-seller “#Networked,” about the power of women supporting women in digital community building. She regularly shares her takes on law and life in her posts on LinkedIn and her contributions to the legal blog, Above the Law.
