LITTLETON, Mass. — A Maine man was arrested in Massachusetts on Thursday for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Erick Splettstoesser, 45, of South Portland was arrested in Littleton, Massachusetts, and a sword, an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun were found in his vehicle, according to officials.

Splettstoesser’s  car had an abnormally loud exhaust, heavy rear-end damage and a light was missing from the right side of the vehicle, which was the reason for a traffic stop, police said.

During the traffic stop, Splettstoesser was allegedly drunk, and had multiple bottles of liquor in the vehicle with him, as well as an unsecured shotgun and multiple boxed of ammunition, officials said.

A search of Splettstoesser’s vehicle led to the discovery of additional weapons — a Winchester 30-30 rifle, a Smith & Wesson handgun, an AR-15 rifle, a BB gun and a sword — and a small amount of prescription medication, according to police.

Splettstoesser was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, possession of a firearm without a license, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a Class E substance, motor vehicle lights violation and operating with a suspended license
