BELFAST — For the fourth year in a row, Waldo County Technical Center will be the recipient of three scholarships generously given by Riley H. Boulay Memorial Scholarship Fund. High school seniors from Mount View, Belfast, and Searsport high schools who attend WCTC and will be attending college next year are eligible for $2,000 and $1,000 scholarships, respectively.
These funds are being raised by the annual event, Riley’s Wish Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Games in Liberty to honor former Mount View High School and WCTC student Riley Boulay. Riley loved the great outdoors and all the activities that went along with it; from baseball to ice fishing. He also loved attending the Electrical Trades Program at WCTC, where he was a student at the time of his passing in December 2017.
The fifth annual Riley’s Wish event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at Liberty public boat launch. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and weigh in is at 3 p.m. There will be sweatshirts for sale, designed by WCTC graphic design graduate Ilana Currier, who is now an employee of the school. Also available to purchase will be derby/raffle tickets, hot food, and drinks. All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. There will be five derby winners (adult and under 12) with over $1,000 in prizes. For more information on this event, call Jackie Boulay at 207-322-5203.
