Recently, for the fifth time since school started, I have had the pleasure of watching the Bangor High School Jr. ROTC in action. In September they organized the remembrance event for 9/11. Last Veterans Day they were a major part of the Veterans Day Parade as organizers and participants. Dec. 7th they, again, took command of the Pearl Harbor remembrance event. Shortly after that they provided the Toys for Tots with a truckload of toys for that program. The most recent event was in remembering the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine.
They have been kind enough to invite the Bangor Detachment of the Marine Corps league to be a part of their activities or to join in with our efforts. We appreciate the opportunity to play a small role as they recognize these important events of our past.
The young men and women of the Bangor Jr. ROTC and their leaders should be applauded for their good work. Never sell kids short.
