The top-seeded and undefeated Skowhegan High School girls basketball team built a 53-11 halftime lead en route to a 76-26 victory over eighth seed Brewer in their Class A North quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center on Friday night.
Senior guard Jaycie Christopher poured in a game-high 24 points and twins Maddy and Annabelle Morris had 18 and 12, respectively.
Callaway LePage scored eight for the 19-0 winners, who will now take on fourth seed Erskine Academy of South China in Wednesday’s 3:30 p.m. semifinal at the Augusta Civic Center.
No. 2 Gardiner and No. 3 Lawrence of Fairfield will play the 2 p.m. semi on Wednesday.
Makayla Dore scored 10 points for Brewer, which wound up 6-14.
Maddy Morris had 10 points in the first period and her sister had seven as the River Hawks took a 28-7 lead after the first eight minutes.
Christopher, who will play at Boston University next season, had 16 in the second period thanks to four 3-pointers as Skowhegan swelled the lead to 42.
