A Hancock man died in a crash on Route 1 on Monday evening.
At around 7:30 p.m., officers with the Maine State Police received a call about a single-vehicle crash in Hancock, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Anthony Smalley, 39, left the road and struck a tree head-on. He died at the scene of the crash.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation, but police believe that Smalley may have fallen asleep or experienced a medical event leading to the crash.
