A convenience store in the heart of Orrington is closed temporarily after an early morning Wednesday fire in the second-floor apartment.

No one was injured, but Bob’s Kozy Korner, located at 2 Johnson Mill Road, suffered heavy water damage from efforts to extinguish the blaze, according to Fire Chief Scott Stewart.

The fire was reported at about 2:17 a.m., Stewart said. When firefighters arrived smoke was showing due to a fire in the attic.

Owner Mike LaBrie told WABI that the cause of the fire was electrical. LaBrie said that he would pay employees during the shutdown.

The store, which serves pizza, sandwiches and some fried foods, is expected to be closed at least two weeks, according to Stewart. It could be months before repairs to the apartment are completed, he said.

Bob’s Kozy Korner also has been a tagging station during deer hunting season.

LaBrie said that reopening plans would be announced on the store’s Facebook page.
