Low pressure is tracking across the Gulf of Maine causing heavy snow storms.
Snow rates could produce up to an inch every hour across the Bangor region and Downeast, however the heaviest amounts are expected along the coast, according to the National Weather Service Caribou office.
Temperature will be cold with single digits in the north and the southern regions of Maine seeing temperatures in the teens.
Total snow accumulations could result in 5 to 9 inches of snowfall. A winter storm warning was put into effect at 8:48AM and will stay in place until 10PM tonight.
Portions of the Coastal Downeast, Interior Downeast and Penobscot valley will be affected the most. Traveling could be difficult which could also impact evening commutes.
