A family pet died in a fire that completely destroyed a Dixmont house on Friday.

The fire at the 65 Loud Road residence was reported around 9 p.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

While the circumstances of the fire are not considered suspicious, an investigation has been opened.
