BANGOR — Bodie Bishop and Nicholas Llerena each turned in strong pitching performances to carry Bronco Little League of the Hampden area past Acadian of the Bar Harbor area to win the Junior League baseball state championship at Mansfield Stadium on Saturday.

Bronco beat Acadian 19-1 in the first game and 14-3 in the second to win the best-of-three tourney and advance to the East Regional in Freehold, N.J., on Thursday.

In the first game, Bishop allowed a run and three hits while striking out 16 and walking a batter in 5 2/3 innings.

He aided his own cause with a 5-for-5 effort and five RBIs on two triples, a double and two singles.

Gavin Monyok chipped in with two triples, a single and three RBIs while Llerna added a double and single. Ashton O’Roak contributed two singles and two RBIs and Nykson Moors doubled.

Alex Roos had two doubles and an RBI for Acadian.

In the second game, Llerna allowed three runs and three hits while striking out 11 in five innings to earn the victory.

Rogan Lord stroked an inside-the-park  home run, singled and drove in three runs to spark the offense. O’Roak and Moors each chipped in with two singles.

Roos singled twice for Acadian.
