The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina says a Maine man was killed in a plane crash near Johns Island Saturday afternoon.
The man was identified as Andrew Patterson, 66, of Cutler, according to officials.
Nearby boaters reported that the plane crashed into mud that was only accessible by boat.
Patterson was the only person in the plane at the time of the crash.
