HALLOWELL, Maine — Police say a Good Samaritan helped rescue two people who were trapped on the roof of a burning building in Hallowell Tuesday night.

The fire started at home at 1 Franklin Street just before 10 p.m. Police say two people were trapped on the roof awaiting help.

A Hallowell police officer was first on scene. A Good Samaritan grabbed a ladder and together they were able to get the trapped people to safety.

Police say no one was hurt.
