An adult minke whale washed ashore on Peaks Island on Saturday.
Several people reported seeing the dead 25-foot-long whale Saturday morning before calling authorities.
Maine Marine Patrol is working with Marine Mammals of Maine.
Marine Mammals of Maine is not commenting on the whale or what action the group is taking at this time.
