A Bangor man allegedly driving a stolen truck under the influence led police on a chase on Interstate 95 Monday night.
Kareem Stokes, 25, was in an “altercation” with a woman late Monday night on Lincoln Street, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
He escaped in a stolen gray truck before police arrived, McAmbley said Tuesday.
When officers stopped Stokes on Main Street, near Buck Street, he fled to I-95 north, then took an exit onto Hammond Street, made a U-turn, then went back south on I-95, according to McAmbley. Officers eventually stopped him near mile marker 180 and took him to Penobscot County Jail.
Stokes was charged with driving under the influence, eluding, resisting arrest, four traffic violations and felony theft.
