PORTLAND, Maine — Asylum seekers staying at the Portland Expo Center will have until the end of the day tomorrow to move out of the temporary housing accommodations.
Friday, the city announced the asylum seekers would be moving to temporary housing in hotels.
Nearly 200 people will be moving to new temporary housing accommodations in hotels in Freeport and Lewiston.
Portland officials have not released details about the housing situation, but one asylum seeker told CBS 13 that she is going to the Ramada in Lewiston.
The Lewiston Housing Authority recently proposed a plan to buy the Ramada and turn it into affordable housing units, but details on that project have not been confirmed.

The Ramada did not offer a comment when contacted Tuesday.
A city of Portland spokesperson said the Lewiston hotel will only house asylum seekers for a few months, and the city will not have an official contract with the hotel.
The other hotel in Freeport does have a signed contract, and that hotel can serve as a home for asylum seekers for up to a year.
Most asylum seekers will be leaving the Expo around 9 a.m.
One man said that families were given an InstantPot from the city to cook in, and they receive general assistance vouchers for food.
